Highest of Any HMO in the New York City Region
NEW YORK, NY (October 16, 2013) — The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has awarded EmblemHealth’s Medicare HMO plan an overall rating of four stars for quality, the highest of any Medicare Advantage HMO in the New York City region.
CMS rates Medicare Advantage plans on a scale of one to five stars, with five stars representing the highest quality. The overall scores are based on more than 50 care and service quality measures such as member experience and satisfaction, customer service, pharmacy services, staying healthy and managing chronic conditions. Plan performance star ratings are assessed each year and may change from one year to the next.
Complete information, including star ratings for insurers, is available at www.medicare.gov.
“We are pleased that EmblemHealth’s Medicare HMO plan has been recognized by CMS. The four star rating reflects EmblemHealth’s decades-long commitment to providing our members with access to quality, affordable health care and the best possible service,” said William Lamoreaux, Senior Vice President, Government Programs.
There are 110,000 members currently enrolled in EmblemHealth’s Medicare HMO plan. Through its company EmblemHealth, EmblemHealth has participated in the Medicare program since it was created by the federal government in 1965.
