Governor Cuomo has just announced the first 2020 State of the State Proposal: Preventing Individuals Who Commit a Serious Crime in Another State From Owning A Gun in New York. This new policy will prevent individuals who committed a serious misdemeanor offense in another state from owning a firearm.
In response, EmblemHealth CEO Karen Ignagni issued the following statement:
“Governor Cuomo has issued an important proposal to prohibit an individual convicted of a crime in another state from obtaining a gun in New York. The EmblemHealth family of companies is committed to creating healthier futures for the communities we serve. We strongly support this proposal, which will give individuals peace of mind to know they are safe in the neighborhoods where they live and work. We look forward to working with the Governor, the legislature and law enforcement leaders to make this proposal a reality.”
