New York (October 17, 2019) – EmblemHealth, one of the nation's largest non-profit health insurers, has launched its October Wellness Series, offering complimentary wellness seminars and personalized plan assistance at seven of their Neighborhood Care Centers throughout New York City, including their Duane Street, Crown Heights, Richmond Avenue, Harlem, Chinatown, Cambria Heights, and East New York locations.
Running from October 7th through the 28th, EmblemHealth’s October Wellness Series aims to engage members in their home communities by inviting representatives from both EmblemHealth and their partner practice, AdvantageCare Physicians, to teach on various topics including mental health, nutrition, pharmacy and overall wellness. In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, representatives from RadNet, the leading radiology center in the U.S., will also be onsite to educate attendees and facilitate mammography scheduling.
Year-round, EmblemHealth Neighborhood Care Centers provide members of the community a place to ask questions about insurance and social services eligibility, learn about stress management and diabetes prevention, and participate in yoga, zumba and other exercise classes. Trained neighborhood teams offer personalized assistance in navigating the health care and social service systems, free nutrition seminars, lifestyle coaching, group support sessions and more.
"At EmblemHealth, we believe that some of the most significant factors impacting a person’s long-term health are where they live, how they live, and what resources they have access to," said Nazneen Rahman, AVP, at EmblemHealth Neighborhood Care. "This is where Neighborhood Care comes in – physical retail locations throughout our coverage area that have been designed to improve the experience and health of our members and the communities in which they live."
Also beginning in October, Neighborhood Care Centers throughout the city will also be hosting orientation sessions for new Medicare and Medicaid members each month to provide patient education on the various benefits available to them as EmblemHealth members.
All of EmblemHealth’s Neighborhood Care centers are staffed with customer care navigators who have deep roots and close ties in their respective communities. These Neighborhood Care professionals are able to offer support in English, Spanish, Mandarin and Cantonese, depending on the needs of each community served.
