Web-Based Tool Educates Small Business Owners About Their
Health Care Options During SHOP Open Enrollment
New York, NY (November 10, 2014) — As open enrollment season approaches, EmblemHealth, New York’s leading health insurance and wellness company, is collaborating with Wellthie, a health care technology company offering software-based solutions that help simplify health insurance, to launch the Affordable Care Advisor for Business. This interactive, web-based platform is available through the EmblemHealth website to educate small businesses about their new health care options, including the ability to estimate tax credits and browse eligible plans, offered through the Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP) Marketplace.
The Affordable Care Advisor for Business is a comprehensive software and analytics platform to help small businesses understand their health insurance options in a simple way. For the first time, small businesses (or brokers working with businesses) have a one-stop online resource to help them estimate premium costs, learn about potential eligibility for the Small Business Tax Credit, compare plan options and choose the one that is best for the business, based on available information.
Unlike other tools that provide tax credit estimating features, the Affordable Care Advisor for Business incorporates bottom-line premium costs net of potential tax credits and dynamically changes these results based upon additional inputs from the small business owner. Small business owners are able to tailor their results to explore the best fit for their company, by:
- Calculating the number of full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
- Adjusting the amount the business contributes to health care premiums
- Planning for changes in hiring
- Breaking down monthly and yearly costs for the employer and employees
