NEW YORK, NY (December 20, 2023) - EmblemHealth, one of the nation’s largest nonprofit health insurers participated in over 15 events across New York's five boroughs to raise awareness about health care in November. The events were diverse and catered to different cultures, focusing on healthy eating, and partnering with other community organizations to tackle food insecurity during the holiday season.
"The start of the holiday season marks a time to be with friends and family. Unfortunately, it is also a time of struggle for some families across the city," stated Anne Marie Adamson-Serieux, Assistant Vice President of Community Engagement. She added, "EmblemHealth is proud to give back, not just during the holidays but throughout the year as part of our commitment to our communities."
EmblemHealth partnered with The Campaign Against Hunger to host food distributions across the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens. At these events, the team distributed over 3,000 turkeys. In addition, the organizations partnered with the New York City Police Department Community Affairs Unit to distribute over 1,500 meals.

EmblemHealth also hosted a series of events called ¡Un Futuro Saludable en NY! to provide resources, health education, and screenings to Spanish-speaking residents of New York. The event series partnered with Frente Hispano and Local 79, P.S.19Q, Alianza Ecuatoriana, and the Dominican Chambers of Commerce. In addition to providing turkeys, EmblemHealth distributed over 2,000 hams in the Hispanic community to account for cultural food preferences.

The team was delighted to partner with elected officials to distribute food in New York City. EmblemHealth collaborated with New York City Council Member Farah Louis, State Senator Zellnor Myrie, State Senator Luis Sepulveda, and Assembly Member Michaelle C. Solages.
