New York, NY (October 2, 2015) — The Board of Directors of EmblemHealth announced today the election of John Feerick, Esq., a current director of the company and Audit Committee Chairman, to the position of Board Chairman, effective immediately.

Mr. Feerick has been a member of the EmblemHealth Board of Directors since the company's formation in 2006. He was previously a public trustee of EmblemHealth.

"I am honored to be elected Chairman of EmblemHealth's Board of Directors. Everyone at EmblemHealth has a deep responsibility to our members and to the diverse New York communities that we serve," said Mr. Feerick. "Like other providers in the industry, we are at a critical juncture as we seek to contain costs while maintaining the highest quality of care and service for our members. I look forward to working with my Board colleagues, as well as the company's talented executive team to position EmblemHealth for the future."

An attorney by trade, Mr. Feerick holds a Bachelor of Science from Fordham University and, in addition to honorary degrees, an LL.B. from Fordham Law School, where he was editor-in-chief of the Fordham Law Review. He served as a practicing lawyer with the firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom for more than 20 years. Mr. Feerick served as Dean of Fordham Law School from 1982 to 2002, where he is currently a professor and occupant of the school's Sidney C. Norris Public Service Chair and senior counsel of its poverty center, the Feerick Center for Social Justice. He teaches courses on the constitution, ethics and conflict resolution.

Mr. Feerick also has served as a director of the Wyeth Corporation where he chaired its audit committee, a director of the Sentinel Group Funds of Vermont with service on a number of its committees, and as a director of the New York Medical College where he chaired its academic affairs committee.

Additionally, Mr. Feerick has served on a number of bar and public committees and commissions dealing with subjects of law reform, ethics, conflict resolution and judicial improvements. He provided assistance to Congress in the development of the 25th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.

Mr. Feerick succeeds Frank Branchini as Chairman, who is retiring from the Board following a more than 30-year tenure with the company. Mr. Branchini previously served as CEO of EmblemHealth, a position from which he also retired on September 1 following the appointment of Karen Ignagni.
