EmblemHealth Recognized Amongst America’s Best Employers for Diversity

New York, NY (April 26, 2024) - EmblemHealth, one of the largest non-profit health insurers in the US, has recently been recognized as one of "America's Best Employers for Diversity" by Forbes Magazine. This prestigious recognition, part of Forbes' seventh annual list, underscores EmblemHealth's unwavering commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The list, developed in collaboration with market research firm Statista, is based on feedback from 170,000 employees at organizations with at least 1,000 employees in the US.

“EmblemHealth has been committed to having a staff that reflects the diversity of the population we serve, and we have worked hard to make that a reality,” said Karen Ignagni, CEO of EmblemHealth.

As part of the survey, participants were asked to rate their own employers and companies they knew well in terms of their diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) practices. The evaluation criteria included factors like age, gender, ethnicity, disability, and sexual orientation. The survey responses from the last three years, including recent data, were analyzed with more weight given to responses from employees and underrepresented groups.

“Having a diverse workforce creates a vibrant employee culture,” said Melanie Moore, AVP of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. “This recognition affirms the evolution of EmblemHealth’s DEI efforts.”

In addition to the survey responses, over 1,300 companies were researched and assessed based on their DEI practices, such as employee resource groups, demographic data publication, women's representation in leadership roles, and supplier diversity. These factors were incorporated into a scoring model, and the 500 companies with the highest scores made the final list.
