When you are a victim of abuse, sometimes it's hard to make sense of what's happening to you, and sometimes it's hard to know what to do about it. You may feel confused, embarrassed or afraid. But domestic violence is not your fault. No one deserves to be hurt by words, hands or control.

New York State Toll-Free Domestic Abuse Hotlines

In New York City (five boroughs):

Safe Horizon provides support, prevents violence and helps promote justice for victims of abuse and their families. Call 1-800-621-HOPE (1-800-621-4673) English and Spanish, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Outside New York City:

The Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence provides information and resources for victims of domestic violence. Call 1-800-942-6906 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For Spanish, call 1-800-942-6908.
